  About the Project

n the village of Gakagati, Eastern Rwanda, EP has commissioned a first-of-its minigrid project, featuring Zola Electric’s distributed Infinity Grid technology.

The minigrid provides 1,012 connections with a generation capacity of 120 kWp (124 kWh of storage capacity).

The Infinity Grid platform is based on a peer-to-peer AC grid forming power system coupling storage with micro-inverters. This makes the technology highly modular and scale-able in tune with the community’s demand growth, potentially decreasing CAPEX and further correlating the energy supply and demand curves, for greater efficiency.

EP is working with AVSI to enable the community to maximise benefits with business incubation, appliance financing and empowerment of women in the community.
